GRAND RAPIDS – Caroline Battin, Sara Caris and Adeline Smith were interviewed for Buckeye Girls State and
the unit decided to send all three as delegates this summer.
The regular unit meeting for March was opened by Vice President Judy Thomas with nine members present.

Membership was approved for Lori Hines.
The meeting was spent discussing reports due in April and May. All members are to bring what they spent
and hours served to the April meeting, or call ahead to 419-669-3080 with those figures.
Members will be stuffing the poppy letters on March 27 at 6 p.m. Helpers are needed.
Karen Dress and Barbara Thomas attended County Council on Feb. 3. They reported that the Toledo VA
Outpatient Clinic has grown 28 percent.
Any interested person, legion auxiliary member or not, can volunteer. The Past Presidents Parley Nurses
scholarship has created a program to assist students pursuing a degree in the nursing field. The
applicant must be a veteran or a direct descendant of an honorably discharged veteran. May 1 is the
deadline to apply.
A junior member in each division can apply for a scholarship of $1,000 per year, renewable for four
years. The applicant must have held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary for the immediate past
three years and current year.
Dates to remember: March 22: Birthday Ball at Continental Post, and April 6: Poppy Shop Open House at
Sandusky.
The next unit meeting will be held April 3.
