L. Yvonne Spoores, of Weston, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014, at age 88. Her loving family was
by her side.
She was born May 29, 1926 to the late Guy and Dora (Brown) Kent. On November 9, 1946 she married Jim
Spoores. He passed away March 8, 2000.
Also preceding her in death were son Doug and son-in-law Gail Hunley.
She is survived by sons Craig (Dedi) Spoores, Grand Rapids, Ohio, Steve (Pat) Spoores of Custar, Ohio and
daughter, Genny Hunley of Weston, Ohio. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren,
and three great-great-grandchildren, brother Art (Evelyn) Kent of Chicago, Illinois, sisters Polly
(John) Mason of Washington Courthouse, Ohio and LaDonna Swendal of Butler, Ohio; special best friend
Cynthia Fletcher of Weston, Ohio and domestic partner, George Moon.
She graduated from Weston High School in May 1944. She graduated from Tiffin Business University after
taking accelerated classes for business office management.
She was employed by the Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Field until WW II ended. She then worked at
Buckeye Canning Company in Weston for 15 years and General Telephone in Bowling Green, Ohio as operator
and later supervisor for 10 years.
After retiring she was an avid Morel Mushroom Hunter. She was also a 50-plus year member of the American
Legion Auxiliary. She also loved to knit and crochet and made many items for family and friends. She
enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the DUNN
FUNERAL HOME, located in Bowling Green’s Historical District at 408 W. Wooster St. Pastor John Randall
will officiate.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time.
Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery.
