CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a southern Ohio
highway was closed for hours when a medical helicopter that responded to
a vehicle crash had to remain grounded in response to an alert from its
on-board warning system.
The Chillicothe Gazette (http://ohne.ws/QzLyPb
) reports traffic on part of U.S. 23 south of Chillicothe was rerouted
for six hours until workers moved the helicopter off of the road and got
it cleared for travel Monday. The road reopened before the morning rush
hour.
The helicopter had responded to an overnight crash that injured two Chillicothe residents.
Authorities
say the 34-year-old driver suffered serious leg injuries. He was taken
to a local medical center and later was flown to a Columbus hospital.
An adult passenger was treated for a leg injury.
