Susan Clanton has been named as the new development officer for United Way in Wood County.
Clanton has been involved with United Way as a volunteer on the Wood County Community Solutions Team as
well as the advisory board for more than 20 years. She has been a Wood County resident for 25 years and
understands the work of United Way and the needs of Wood County and local communities.
"Sue’s passion for the community, coupled with her knowledge of the corporate sector will strengthen
United Way’s work and increase our ability to engage the community in creating lasting change,"
said Kate Sommerfeld, Director of United Way in Wood County.
Many know Clanton from her time at Bowling Green Community Development Foundation where she worked for
approximately 17 years.  At BGCDF, she has worked with local businesses to ensure they remained in
Bowling Green while promoting growth; and marketed the community to potential businesses. Prior to the
Foundation, she worked for PathStone, Inc. (formally Rural Opportunities, Inc.). She was responsible for
program development which focused on health, housing, employment, child development, family violence,
and many more.
In her new role, Clanton will be responsible for engaging businesses, community groups and individuals in
giving, advocating and volunteering with United Way.
"I am excited to have the opportunity for a new beginning which utilizes my skills and community
knowledge.  My challenge is to develop connections which will make positive differences far into the
future for the lives of fellow Wood County citizens," Clanton said.
