A man living at the Victory Inn & Suites on East Wooster Street was charged with multiple counts
of child endangering after authorities dealing with a fire Tuesday night discovered his children had
been left alone in a room there.
Bowling Green Police Deputy Chief Tony Hetrick told the Sentinel-Tribune that Taurean M. Walton, 34, with
a listed address at the Victory Inn, had left his children, ages 10, 4 and 2, unsupervised in the hotel
room while he and his wife went to work overnight.
When authorities came to the scene around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday on the report of a fire, they were informed
that a family living in one of the rooms had not been seen.
A call was placed with the room, and there was no answer. Police later entered the room and an officer
found the children there, sleeping. They were not injured.
Walton and his wife reportedly came back to retrieve the children.
Walton was charged with three first-degree misdemeanor counts of endangering children.
Hetrick indicated that the incident was not at all related to the cause of the fire.
