The two surviving charter members of the Wood County Hospital Guild, formed in 1954, are Norma Barr
(left), 88, and Mary Myers Fuelber, 95, (center). They are joined by Laurie Newlove, the hospital’s
current director of volunteers, during the organization’s festive 60th anniversary celebration held
Monday afternoon in the hospital atrium. Barr and Newlove are mother and daughter and all three women
are past guild presidents. The event doubled as a fundraiser for the hospital. Over 100 area residents
and medical professionals present learned the guild is about to launch a multi-year project to raise
$100,000 in support of the hospital’s new Cancer Center.
