MILLBURY – Fire crews remained on-scene this morning at a Lake Township fire that destroyed a home and
injured one person.
"Right now we’re in an overall stage of going after hot spots," Lake Township Fire Chief Bruce
Moritz said this morning.
The call for the fire, located in a single-story ranch home at 26807 Woodland Court, came in at 4:40 a.m.
as the report of a structure fire.
Crews from Northwood and Troy Township, as well as the Allen Clay Joint Fire District, came to the scene.

Moritz said that upon the arrival crews saw "fire coming through the roof."
He said both residents were able to make it out of the home. One of them, he said, reportedly rushed
outside and attempted to put out the fire with a garden hose, but received burns on their hands.
They were taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment.
He said that the residents had smelled smoke in the home and called the fire department.
Moritz indicated that the home was a total loss, but that where and how the fire started were still under
investigation.
