The Bowling Green Schools Orchestra program will present two holiday orchestra concerts during the first
week of December.
The first concert is Tuesday which features the 180 string players comprising the fifth, sixth and
seventh grade orchestras. The younger orchestra students have prepared several holiday favorites as well
as traditional orchestra literature. The finale of the concert will feature the 7th grade orchestra and
Bowling Green Schools Superintendent Dr. Ann McVey narrating the classic poem "T’was the Night
Before Christmas" while the orchestra plays.
The second concert is Thursday and features the eighth-grade orchestra and Bowling Green High School
orchestra. The eighth-grade orchestra will perform several holiday favorites as well as music from
Vivaldi’s "Four Seasons." The Four Seasons will feature eighth-grade orchestra soloists Jack
Burroughs, Erin Spangler, Ali Cramer and Olivia Strang.
The high school orchestra will perform two songs arranged by the group Mannheim Steamroller titled
"Pat-a-Pan" and "The Holly and the Ivy." These two songs will feature senior
violinist Joe Buzzelli.
The orchestra will also perform "O’ Holy Night" featuring senior cello soloist Emma Harkness.

The concert will conclude by adding electric guitars, electric violin, electric bass and drums to perform
music by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra music will be performed to special lighting effects designed by BGHS senior
Drake Doren and BGCS Performing Arts Center Technical Director Carmen Rowlands.
TSO songs to be performed are "Wizards in Winter," "Dreams of Fireflies" and
"Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24." The song "Dreams of Fireflies" will feature pianist
Grace O’ Hare.
Concerts both nights begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
