BG woman chooses life over every issue

To the Editor:
I recently heard that U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sarcastically complained that Republicans “hang
their hats” on only one issue: abortion. Well, I hope that’s true.
The right to life is our first inalienable right as outlined in the First Amendment to our Constitution,
and includes the unborn. All the rest of our rights and freedoms depend on this. If there is no respect
for human life, then it follows that there will be no respect for any rights.
Like a domino effect, trample on our most important right and all the others will topple. As a
Republican, I proudly “hang my hat” on the issue of abortion. A candidate’s position on abortion will
always determine my vote.
I know this leaves Democrats shaking their heads in disbelief, not understanding how it can be that
simple. It is that simple.
Here’s another truth: The first Law of Christianity is Love. Love God, and love your neighbor as
yourself. This also is so simple.
Born-again Christians have been filled with God’s love to enable us to do that, and also filled with the
fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, kindness, goodness, gentleness and
self-control. It’s the same principle here: If we don’t love God and others, then we will forfeit the
benefits that follow (joy, peace, patience, etc.) We Christians ‘hang our hats’ on this one issue as
well. If everyone loved others with God’s love, we’d do them no harm and could eliminate law
enforcement, judges, jails and prisons. Or, choose hatred instead, and the domino effect of that choice
will also follow because of this universal law: You reap what you sow.
So yes, I proudly am pro-God, pro-gun. pro-life, pro-family. If you disagree with me and choose to call
me names — gun-toting, Bible thumping, irredeemable deplorable, hater, racist, homophobe — because you
have chosen hatred instead of love, I will proudly wear that label. In the end, I choose life. I choose
God. I choose love. And, yes, it is precisely that simple.
