PERRYSBURG — City council will consider 13 candidates for the next member.
Council will interview the candidates on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. during a special meeting.
The candidates:
Daniel Anderson is a financial adviser for Key Investment Services. In his application, Anderson said he
would not run for re-election to the position, “allowing me to focus on the position, not a campaign.”

Dustin Decker is a deputy clerk for the Wood County Clerk of Courts. He is a former auxiliary officer for
the North Baltimore Police Department and former chairman for the Wood County Young Republicans.
Randy Fahringer is a sales specialist at Dillard’s. He has also been a field organizer for the Ohio
Democratic Party and an intern for U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and former Toledo Mayor Mike Bell.

James Hagen is the owner of Turkeyfoot Timber Frames Inc., a framing contractor business.
Will Harbaurer, a former Wood County District Public Library Board of Trustees member who was just
appointed to the city’s parks and recreation board. He is a branch manager for the Toledo Lucas County
Public Library.
Cory Kuhlman is a partnered attorney with Hammer and Kuhlman and solicitor for Weston and Custar.
Virginia Luce is a self-employed licensed psychologist.
Jan Materni is a substitute teacher for the Anthony Wayne and Perrysburg school districts. She is a
retired transportation manager for the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Richard Rettig is director of counseling with Perrysburg schools.
Mark Weber is a retired electrician/foreman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
Local 8. He is the chairman of the Historic Landmarks Commission and serves on the board for the
Perrysburg Area Historic Museum.

Corning. He is a former volunteer firefighter/EMT and hospice volunteer.
Megan Wolfinger is a real estate attorney and is vice president of legal at Welltower Inc.
Wedney Ziems-Mueller is assistant dean of the graduate programs and an associate professor in management
at Tiffin University. She is a former president of Junior League of Toledo.
The vacancy was created when Councilman Haraz Ghanbari was selected the new Ohio House District 3
representative on March 27.
Council has 45 days to fill the seat. Four of the six members must vote affirmatively for the same
candidate for council by May 6. If the vacancy is not filled by that date, Mayor Tom Mackin can fill it
by appointment.
The replacement council person’s term will expire when Ghanbari’s term expires, Dec. 31. That individual
can also run for reelection.
The deadline to apply for the seat was April 16.
The Perrysburg Council appointment should finish the political musical chairs that was started when Ohio
Sen. Randy Gardner, R-Bowling Green, was selected chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education
by Gov. Mike DeWine in January.
Ohio Rep. Theresa Gavarone, R-Bowling Green, was appointed to Gardner’s senate seat and Ghanbari filled
her position.
