SOFTBALL
Liberty-Benton 6, Rossford 5
FINDLAY — Rossford nabbed a quick lead with a three-run third inning.
The Bulldogs later answered Liberty-Benton’s five-run fifth to deadlock the score again, but they
struggled to get enough timely hits before L-B sliced a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning
for a 6-5 win.
Morgan Prater singled three times, including an RBI single in the second inning and Rossford’s (6-5) only
hit in the 10th inning.
Hannah Pierce, who routinely patrolled center field running down a handful of fly balls in the gaps, also
reached base three times. Pierce singled in a run to take a 3-0 lead and later tripled in a pair of runs
in the top of the sixth to tie the score at 5-5.
The Bulldogs stranded runners on second and third in the fourth inning, left Pierce at third in the sixth
and threw away a strong ninth-inning chance. Rossford made the second out of the inning at third base
and ended the scoreless inning with runners on first and second.
L-B’s Trinity Gasser slapped the one-out game-winning single just past Maddie Schimming at shortstop. The
Eagles scored the rest of their five runs in a fifth inning where Rossford committed three errors and
let a runner reach on a dropped third strike.
