Scientist/activist will make excellent councilman

To the Editor:
Bowling Green voters have an excellent opportunity to add a smart, civically engaged new member to our
city council. Neocles Leontis is running for an at-large seat in the upcoming May primary. I urge fellow
voters to support him.
Leontis is a renowned scientist, the author of two books in the field of chemistry, and a highly regarded
mentor of BGSU students for over 30 years. Moreover, he is active in several community organizations,
including Bowling Green Kiwanis and Peace Lutheran Church. He has a record of successfully promoting
clean energy and cost savings for our town. He worked directly with Columbia Gas to make home energy
audits and insulation more affordable for hundreds of Bowling Green homeowners. He also spearheaded
efforts to install the largest municipal solar array (80 MegaWatts) in Ohio. We can all be proud that
our town implemented this forward-looking project in 2017.
Leontis is eager to serve as an advocate for young families and renters, as well as long-term residents
and homeowners. Having raised a family here himself, he understands the struggles of living on a budget
in a college town. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and well-informed candidate ready to join
our local government. Leontis will provide the kind of leadership every town needs in order to face the
challenges of the 21st century. For more information on his ideas and background, visit Citizens for
Neocles Leontis on Facebook. And don’t forget: early voting began April 9.
