New exhibit opening at historical museum

The Wood County Historical Museum is preparing to open the 2019 exhibit, “For Comfort and Convenience:
Public Charity in Ohio by Way of the Poor Farm.”
The exhibit, which opens Friday, will feature insight to the early Poor Farm days and a compelling set of
photographs and historical artifacts to represent all 88 counties in Ohio.
The staff is putting on the finishing touches, which include docent training for members and volunteers
who would like to learn more about the exhibit and help us throughout the year with tours and events.

Anyone who is interested may attend one of the upcoming training sessions, or contact the museum curator
to set up a training time:
Thursday, from 1-2 p.m.
Feb. 6 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Also mark your calendar to join us on Friday, Feb. 22 for the exhibit’s official ribbon cutting is set
for Feb. 22 at 4:45 p.m., followed by a public reception and self-guided tours from 5-8 p.m. Exhibit
photographer Jeff Hall will share remarks at 6 p.m. about his 5,000-mile journey to Ohio’s poor farm
sites.
