Bowling Green State University football coach Mike Jinks announced the hiring of Jimmy Williams as its
defensive line coach, Monday.
Williams spent the 2016 season on PJ Fleck’s staff at Western Michigan before sitting out last season.
He’s also made coaching stops at Eastern Michigan, Alabama Birmingham, Buffalo, Nebraska, Toledo and
Grand Valley State.
Marcus White, who coached the defensive line for the past two seasons at Bowling Green, has moved to
running backs coach.
Williams was the 15th pick in the 1982 NFL draft after playing at Nebraska. He played 12 seasons in the
NFL with the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Williams is ranked sixth in Lions history with 653 tackles. He also had 25.5 sacks and 11 interceptions.

A member of Nebraska’s Hall of Fame, he recorded 198 tackles with the Cornhuskers. He earned first-team
All-America honors and was the Big Eight defensive player of the year as a senior.
The Falcons still have two openings on the coaching staff.
