Four Seasons Garden Club
Eleven members met at the Pemberville Library on March 6.
Bryan Bockbrader, with the Wood County Park District, gave a presentation and demonstration on tool
sharpening and cleaning. He offered good suggestions and ideas on how to sharpen and/or clean your
garden tools. Keeping your gardening tools clean will prevent spreading of potential diseases and
prolong the use of your garden tools.
The secretary read the minutes from Feb. 6 and were approved as corrected. The treasurer reported the
Garden Club and the Flower Show balances. Treasurer report will be filed for audit.
In old business, Ellen Walston has the 2017 Club Project Flowers. Each member will pay for one packet
each of the “Jubilee Gem” Cornflower and “Neon” Calendula. Judy Sayen distributed the schedule for the
library cleanup.
For new business, Trina Karns distributed the 2017 Flower Show schedule, which will use the theme “State
Route 105.” The schedule was discussed, with many exciting, new categories for this year’s theme. No
changes in the rules, awards, horticultural or juniors. Just one category for the project flower
artistic design, 10 artistic designs, three small designs, and “new” this year is a miniature design,
three junior designs, three for invitational. This year it was decided to remove Section L for the
educational exhibit. There are a few corrections, additions, and/or deletions before sending to the
Flower Show Judges. It was also reported that the club’s previous flower show judge, Bonnie Eddy died.

Grand Rapids Garden Club
The Garden Rapids Garden Club held its first meeting of the year on March 19. Possible projects and
locations for plantings were discussed.
Meetings will be held the third Monday of each month at Library House Books & Art store in Grand
Rapids at 7 p.m. Anyone with a passion or casual interest in gardening to beautify the village is
welcome to attend.
The club is sponsored by the Grand Rapids Arts Council; six people were in attendance.
