Peonies, art and more at farm festival

METAMORA – Wood County folks will be among those involved this weekend for the Peony Walk – A Bloomin’
Festival.
The public is invited to attend what is being organized as a family event at the Koelsch Farm Homestead,
2365 County Road S, Metamora.
Trisha Koelsch said she and her siblings couldn’t bear to part with the family homestead after their
parents died, so they will periodically have events like this to showcase the farm and this one will
highlight more than 200 peony bushes on the property.
There is no admission fee for the festival which run Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon
to 5 p.m.
Koelsch said despite the recent heavy rains which caused many of the blooms to droop, there are plenty of
buds which should be open by this weekend to provide a good display for the visitors.
In addition to the floral display, Koelsch said there will be live music, food vendors and a variety of
artisans on hand.
Among those featured is Judy Sikorski of Rossford who will be displaying portions of her vintage clothing
collection datingĀ  back to the late 18000s.
"We will all be dressed in vintage clothing," Sikorski said.
She also noted her cousin, Pam Bolinger will feature vintage hats and show people how to preserve old
hats.
Speaking of hats, the public is encouraged to wear old hats, decorated with peonies. There will be
educational material regarding the blooming bushes as well. The best "Peony Hat" will win a
prize each day.
Koelsch also said there will be Plein air artists who will be painting a live model wearing vintage
clothing, as well as peonies as their inspiration.
There will be several floral arrangements featuring various area garden clubs including the Perrysburg
Garden Club and the All Thumbs Club, also from Perrysburg.
Those attending are also invited to wear vintage clothing and especially hats decorated with peonies. Cut
peonies will be for sale. For more information, email: [email protected].
