11th Frame: Albert wins tournament at Al-Mar Lanes (12-31-13)

Al-Mar Lanes hosted its first PBA Experience event on Sunday with Logan Albert taking the
win.Albert defeated Chad Close 221-169 in the championship game to claim the $80 first prize.The contest
used the Viper oil pattern which uses 37 feet of oil on the 60-foot lanes.Albert was the top qualifier
rolling games of 247, 236 for an 895 4-game total.The field was trimmed to the top eight after the four
games with one more game of qualifying before the field was trimmed to the top four for the stepladder
finals. He shot a 207 in the fifth game for an 1,102 and the top seed for the finals.Close earned the second
seed after shooting a 236 in the fifth game to advance his position.He qualified fourth at 845 including
high games of 228 and 220.The opening match of the stepladder finals saw third-seed Paul Schmich edge
fourth-seed Jeremiah Simon, 170-166. Close then defeated Schmich, 213-190.Close earned $50; with Schmich and
Simon earning $40 and $25, respectively.The other semifinalists included Jordan Franks, 855; Gary
Schluchter, 804; Tony Romaker, 790; and Adam Sprague, 776.In addition to the cash, all participants earned
points toward the year-end finals. Albert took 50 points; Close, 30; Schmich, 25; and Simon, 20.The other
advancers to the fifth game received 15 points. For participating, the other bowlers in the event earned
five points, each.The bowlers with the most points at the end of the series will advance to the finals.Youth
of the Week: Youth bowlers who bowled the most pins over their average in any one game last week, with pins
over, were: Blayne Keller, 62; Thomas Rieman, 55; Sofia Calderon, 52; Rylee Keller, 47.Surviving the game:
The seven bowlers eliminated for Week 11 in Al-Mar’s "Surviving the Game" with league and pins
under average were: Richard Koontz, American, 107; Dick Feehan, Eagles, 107; Bill Wammes, Sentinel Classic,
76; Chris Hines, Elks, 72; Tracy Close, Ladies Major, 68; Pat Ruck, Elks, 67 and Kevin Gilbertson, Randy
Miller Memorial, 60.New Year’s reminder: There are still limited openings for Al-Mar’s annual New Year’s Eve
party tonight.The event features the "Pot of Gold" promotion with colored pins inserted to win
money by striking when in specific spots in the rack.There is also a deli buffet.Tickets will be $40 per
