Ohio festival exposes toilet shortage

CINCINNATI (AP) — Some residents are singing the blues over
an insufficient number of toilets for music shows at a Cincinnati park.
The
annual MidPoint Music Festival this weekend brings thousands of people
to Washington Park and other Cincinnati venues. That worries nearby
residents who say visitors to big music shows at the park have been
known to use their yards and fences for bathrooms.
The sponsor tells The Cincinnati Enquirer (http://cin.ci/QZtZ54 ) it takes concerns seriously.
Ten portable toilets were rented to supplement park restrooms for the event.
A
restroom trade group says for an event drawing 5,000 people for four to
six hours with alcohol, it recommends 30 toilets for women and nine
toilets and 23 urinals for men. The Cincinnati event has less than half
that capacity.
