Emma J. Burdette, age 70, of Wayne, Ohio, passed peacefully on Saturday (March 24,
2012) at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 29, 1941 in Louisa, Kentucky, to the late Henry and Julia
(Hammond) Kirk, Sr. She married Pastor E. Ray Burdette on December 24, 1956 in
Louisa, Kentucky, and he passed away on September 26, 2003.
Surviving are sons, Danny R. Burdette, Sr. of Risingsun, Charles Steven Burdette of
Wayne; daughter, Loretta J. (Michael) Courtney of Kearney, Missouri; brother,
Taylor (Darlena) Kirk of Columbus; sister, Rebecca (Ansel) Skaggs of Columbus;
grandchildren, Lindsay, Danny Jr., Mark, Joshua, Jessica, Michaela;
great-grandchildren, Keegan, Collin, Caleb, Addisyn, Andrean and Avery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Henry Jr., Clyde,
Dennis, James; sister, Virginia Greene; daughter-in-law, Sherry and grandson,
Caelan M. Courtney.
Emma enjoyed quilting, making crafts, camping and spending time with her family and
friends.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday (March 30, 2012) at Barndt
Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be at 11
a.m. Saturday (March 31, 2012) with Minister John Amstutz officiating. Burial
will be at Graham Cemetery near Wayne, with a bereavement luncheon to follow at
the Wayne Church of Christ.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
