County residents looking for up-to-date information on inmates at the Wood County Justice Center, on
recent police events, and even a wanted list, need now look no further than the Sheriff’s website.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office premiered its Police-2-Citizen site online for the public early last
week.
"The whole purpose of this is we’re constantly striving to be as open, accessible to the public as
possible," said Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn.
The site, available via the Sheriff’s website or by visiting http://p2c.woodcountysheriff.com includes a
number of features.
"Some of the key things are the daily bulletin that people will be able to see recent things that
have happened in the office, to actually being able to bring up all the inmates in the jail" and
see their next court date, and other pertinent information. This innovation is expected to save time in
several areas: Wasylyshyn said it will cut down on telephone calls from the public seeking information
about inmates, and also from media outlets looking for booking photos; they can now go right to the
website to get what they need.
The site is driven by "first and foremost, openness of the office. We work for the citizens.
Obviously a lot of things we cannot share with the public, but there are a lot of things we can."

The site was up and running for tests previously to work out bugs on a separate site and went live on the
internet early last week when the link was put on the Sheriff’s site. So far, given the newness of the
site, there has been little feedback, except from site regulars who have been positive.
"The hope is, I want to be able to have all the people we have warrants for, to have a warrant
list." Currently about 15 individuals wanted on warrants are listed on the site.
"So the idea is that people can go onto there," and see who is being sought and may then
contact the Sheriff’s office "and we can go after them."
