Prep Roundup: Perrysburg baseball sweeps Otsego (04-11-11)

Perrysburg’s baseball team swept a doubleheader from Otsego, 6-2 and 4-0 Saturday.
In the opener, Perrysburg’s Alex Williams pitched a no-hitter through 6 2/3 innings before finishing with
a two-hitter. He struck out eight and walked one.
Steve Slocum hit a grand slam home run for Perrysburg and Matt Kruzel had two hits.
Ryan Smoyer hit a double for Otsego.
In the second game, Peter Munger pitched a complete game striking out 10 and walking none. Matt Garbig
was 3-for-4 with and RBI. Ryan Young also had an RBI.
Dustin Peper had two singles for Otsego.
Perrysburg is 6-0 with five shutouts this season.
BASEBALL
Northwood wins twice
Northwood defeated Hamilton Township, 6-2; and Grove City Christian, 16-5, in non-league games on
Saturday. The Rangers are 6-1.
Against Hamilton, leading hitters for the Rangers were: Jake Pressley, 3-for-4, triple, double, two RBI;
Nick Russell, 2-for-3, two doubles; and Justin Rohrs, 2-for-3, two RBI. Mahoney was the winning pitcher
for Northwood with 10 strikeouts.
Leading hitters against Grove City were: Rohrs, 2-for-3, double, RBI; Perkins, 2-for-3, two RBI;
Pressley, 2-for-4, RBI; John Segura, 2-for-3; and Tyler Johnson, 2-for-4, RBI.
SOFTBALL
Eastwood sweeps doubleheader
In Luckey, Eastwood improved to 4-4 overall with a 9-3, 2-0 doubleheader sweep of Bryan Saturday.
In the opener, the Eagles had 16 hits. Top hitters for the Eagles were: Cassidy Rolf, 3-for-4, double,
home run, two RBI; Jessica Young, 3-for-4; Diana Bushman, 2-for-3; Emily Helm, 2-for-4; and winning
pitcher Christine Foster, three RBI.
In the second game, Foster pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out four and walking two. Bushman was
2-for-3 with two RBI for the Eagles and Rolf hit a double.
Bobcats lose pair
Bowling Green dropped an 8-2 decision to Fremont Ross and a 2-0 game to Toledo Central Catholic Saturday.

Against Ross, BG had 13 hits, but committed seven errors. Top hitters for BG were: Lily Murnen, 3-for-4;
Kara Maxey, and Allie Smith, 2-for-3 each.
Against Central Catholic, Kelby and Kelsey Parker had BG’s only hits as Erin Seiler struck out 12 for the
winners.
Lake splits
In Genoa, Lake went 1-1 at the at Papa Joe Memorial Tournament. The Flyers defeated Huron, 5-2; and lost
to Clyde, 4-3.
Leading hitters for Lake against Huron were: Adrienne Lowe, 2-for-3, double; McKenzie Whiteman, Bailey
Mannon, and Lauren Densic, each went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Densic was the winning pitcher, going all
seven and allowing five hits.
Leading hitters against Clyde were: Kayla Encalado, 2-for-4; and Mannon, 2-for-3.
NB splits
In McComb, North Baltimore beat McComb 16-9, but dropped a 9-1 decision to Elmwood Saturday. The Tigers
are 7-2 overall.
In the opener, NB’s top hitters were: Mackenzie Carpenter, 4-for-6, double, triple, four RBI; Emily
Stewart, 2-for-5, two doubles, two RBI; and Andrea Smith, 4-for-5, two doubles, three RBI.
In the second game, Ricck Emahiser hit a double for NB. Brittany George was 2-for-5 for Elmwood and
Stephanie Barringer was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
TENNIS
Perrysburg 3, Northview 2
In a match from Thursday reported Saturday evening, Perrysburg posted the Northern Lakes League victory.
