ADT sales crew is legitimate

Individuals who recently were going door to door in the county and stating they were with ADT Security to
sell alarm systems have been found to be with a legitimate business.
A Nixle alert posted on the Wood County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday morning originally identified the
individuals as being part of a possible scam and advised residents to contact local law enforcement if
any similar incidents occurred. The alert said that ADT was not sending any people door to door.
Lt. Jamie Webb of the sheriff’s office said Wednesday afternoon that ESSI, a company in Toledo, is a
subcontractor with ADT and has had representatives going door to door in the county. He said that a
sheriff’s office employee had spoken with ADT and that the company said it is their policy not to go
door to door, but subcontractors may do so.
Two reports were made to the sheriff’s office Jan. 14 about the individuals going door to door in Wayne
and Rudolph.
Webb said that the company will be contacting the sheriff’s office in the future prior to coming into
their patrol area. An amendment to the Nixle alert is going to be sent out, he said.
According to the sheriff’s office, Nixle is a notification system used to broadcast important information
to subscribers via cell phone, e-mail and Web.
