Douglas Kaufman, 67, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Heartland of Water-ville.
He was born May 5, 1943 to Vernon and Mildred (Swartz) Kaufman, Napoleon. On Febru-ary 14, 1999, he
married Norma Bretz. She survives, as do his son, Larry Kaufman of McComb and daughter, Kandy Kaufman of
Toledo.
Mr. Kaufman was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Jim Kaufman.
Doug was a popular and active member of Sugar Ridge Community Church. He was always helpful on workdays
at the church, and at one time served on the church council. He gladly provided transportation for his
neighbors and friends who didn’t drive.
He loved needlework, and was generous with his talent. He made many afghans, scarves, wall hangings, and
decorative items for those in his church family.
Doug liked to drive, and frequently took Norma to Amish Country in Southern Ohio to sample the food.
He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and puppies, and hoped to get one of each. He and Norma worked
briefly for the Sentinel-Tribune in rural delivery.
A memorial service for Doug Kaufman will be held at Sugar Ridge Community Church, 11634 Sugar Ridge Road,
Bowling Green, OH 43402, on Saturday, January 8, at 11 a.m. Pastor John Randall will officiate.
Condolences and memorials may be sent to the church.
