Polar dip draws a crowd at Waterville

0

Numerous adventuresome souls spent a little time taking a New Year’s Day "polar dip" in the
Maumee River at Waterville early in the afternoon.
Overnight rain had stopped and there were ocassional peaks of sunshine but high winds helped make those
who took a dip feel even colder. The tradition dates back decades, following the example of the late
Herb Mericle, who lived in Waterville. The event is held near the Ohio 64 bridge on the Lucas County
side of the river. PHOTO GALLERY
