BG’s Lawrence earns top academic honor
Bowling Green senior Jacob Lawrence has been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America
first-team for men’s soccer.
Lawrence, a native of Brandon, Miss., finished the season with five goals, three assists and 13 points,
setting personal bests in all three categories.
Lawrence maintains a 3.93 cumulative grade point average as an interpersonal communications major. He
earned academic all-district first-team honors from ESPN The Magazine in both 2008 and 2009.
Falcons sign volleyball recruit
Lindsey Butterfield from Springfield (Ohio) has signed an NCAA national letter of intent to attend
Bowling Green and play volleyball.
Butterfield was the area player of the year in both 2008 and 2009. Butterfield plans to major in
pre-dentistry at Bowling Green and will enroll a semester early.
BG women’s golf signs two
Bailey Arnold and Kelsey Benson have signed NCAA national letters of intent to attend Bowling Green and
play women’s golf next fall.
Arnold joins the Falcons from Seton High School. She is currently ranked seventh in Ohio by the Junior
Golf Scoreboard. Arnold maintains a 3.8 grade-point-average and plans to major in pre-med.
Benson attends Martinsville (Ind.) High School. At the 2009 Indiana state championships, Benson’s 11th
place helped lead Martinsville to its second state championship in three seasons. Benson’s 4.0 GPA ranks
first in her class, and she plans on being a pre-med major.
BGSU football sets ticket offers
Bowling Green has two special ticket offers for Friday’s game with Akron. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. in
Perry Stadium.
Anyone bringing two Meijer brand non-perishable food products to the game will receive one game ticket
for $9. All food collected will benefit the Bowling Green Food Pantry.
Also it’s Take a Kid to the Game Night. Anyone purchasing an adult ticket will receive one free youth
ticket. Both offers are walk-up only and are not available in advance. The Meijer offer is valid at the
prime bench reserved seat price/level. Take a Kid to the Game Night offer valid only at the bench
reserved seat/price level.
