Doren to remain in local jail until trial

Ralph Doren, 60, who is again on trial for a 2001 murder, will remain in custody at the Wood County jail
pending his March trial.
Following a motion hearing on Monday morning, Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Reeve Kelsey ruled
against the defendant’s request to be transferred to a Michigan facility until the time of his trial.
His attorney cited medical reasons for the request.
Paul Dobson, Wood County prosecutor, filed a motion to deny the request.
Doren’s next court appearance is set to be heard on Dec. 14 at 8:30 a.m. for a motion to suppress certain
evidence.
In January the Sixth District Court of Appeals overturned Doren’s conviction for a 1991 murder of a
Northwood teen.
Doren is also currently serving a sentence of 30 to 60 years in prison in a Michigan case of rape and
criminal sexual conduct in an unrelated case.
