Ruby A. Walton Haidet, age 78, passed away at home in Amanda, Ohio, on November 12, 2009.
Ruby was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had an outstanding gift for
cooking and conversing, was a loving friend to many and a very generous person with an amazing sense of
humor. She had a mind like a "steel trap." Her imagination carried the grandchildren to many
lands. She made an impact on many lives. She will be greatly missed.
Ruby was born in Pickerington, Ohio, to Carl and Betty (Johnson/Brown) Walton. She married Leo Haidet in
1951 in Columbus, Ohio.
Although they have lived in the Lancaster area for 20 years, they also lived in Upland, California for 15
years; Toledo, Ohio; Muncie, Indiana; and Dallas, Pennsylvania.
Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Teresa Smith of Chandler, Arizona; Debbie (Chris) Jackson of
Bowling Green, Ohio; Laura (Jerry) Baldonado of Upland, California; and Jean (Dave) Canup of Lancaster,
Ohio; grandchildren, Chris Haidet, Heather Cowell, Keith and Karen Jackson, Jason Valdez, and Nolan and
Paula Canup; five great-grandchildren; brother, Keith Walton of Shiloh, Ohio; and several nieces and
nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Carl and Gary Walton and Robert Walton, who was
killed in WWII.
A private family service has already taken place.
