In response to Cindy Morlock’s letter dated Nov. 4:
First, I would like to clarify that health care for illegal aliens has never been included in any health
care reform bill proposal.
(See proposed Senate Bill Section 111: refers to eligible individuals who may use the Public Health
Insurance Option as –a citizen or national of the United States or a lawfully admitted alien.
(See proposed H.R. Bill 3262, Section 347– "NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS")
Remember, this is a Public Option; anyone may opt out.
Second, the idea behind health care reform is to enable all Americans and legal immigrants access to
affordable health care. This is in the form of health insurance coverage guaranteed to all citizens of
The United States of America.
I have the impression that many who oppose health care reform think incorrectly that our country is
supporting a handout program. To the contrary, by supporting health care reform and guaranteeing
accessible, affordable health care to the uninsured and under insured of the U.S.A. we are fulfilling
President Kennedy’s desire to serve our fellow Americans.
" . . . ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"
implores that we all chip in to serve others. Remember, it is not "our government" giving a
handout; it is everyone pitching in to support our fellow citizens.
Before you question, yes, I am a native U.S. citizen with family members who have served our nation
proudly since the American Revolution and I proudly support health care access for all!
