Participate in community storytelling at the library
Kids looking for a good adventure are invited to join the Children’s Place in reading “The Exquisite
Corpse Adventure.”
It’s an old writing game of community storytelling sponsored by the Center for the Book in the Library of
Congress. Jon Sciezka, popular children’s book author and National Ambassador of Young People’s
Literature, has written the first episode.
He has then passed it on to a cast of celebrated authors and illustrators who are contributing a new
episode/chapter every two weeks and will by years end bring the story to a close.
Read the first three episodes online at www.rea.gov or visit the Children’s Place at the Wood County
District Public Library to read an updated printed copy.
Also, check out other books by the well-known creators as well as find inspiring writing prompts from
each for all grade levels.
The adventure begins with our heroes Joe and Nancy on a train rushing through the night with the sound of
a ticking time bomb.
‘Stone Soup’ stirs up gratitude
The Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library is featuring “Stone Soup” at its
listening center this month.
Families are invited to stop in and listen to the audio book with copies of the picture book, cook up
some great make-believe soups in the pot over the firewood, and consider all that they are thankful for
this year.
