Eastwood appears headed back to the state high school football playoffs.
The Eagles believe they clinched a spot in the Division IV playoffs Saturday night, thanks to Oak
Harbor’s 28-7 win over Sandusky St. Mary.
An OH loss most likely would have eliminated the Eagles, 8-2 overall, from playoff contention.
According to Eagle head coach Jerry Rutherford, Eastwood earned its berth on a tiebreaker with Lorain
Clearview for the eighth and final playoff berth in Region 14.
But Eastwood won the tiebreaker on third-level points, primarily because of its season-opening 32-21 win
over Clyde.
The computer rankings are based on points awarded for each game a team wins (first-level points) and each
game a defeated opponent wins (second-level points). Teams earn more points for beating bigger schools.

The third-level points are essentially the defeated team’s second-level points.
Clyde, which finished 6-4, is a Division III school.
The final computer rankings and first-round pairings will be announced Sunday afternoon by the Ohio High
School Athletic Association.
Eastwood is expected to face seventh-ranked and top-seeded Galion (10-0) in a first-round game next
Saturday at 7 p.m.
The playoff berth is the third straight and sixth in the last eight seasons for Eastwood, which advanced
to the state quarterfinals in 2007.
