To the Editor: Weston man backs 3 for board

0

The intention of this letter is to urge the citizens of the Otsego Local School District to vote for the
following three candidates for the Otsego School Board: Brad Anderson, Judith Snyder and Mark Tolles.
These persons are eminently qualified and will provide the educational and fiscal guidance so sorely
needed by the board.
The Otsego District is facing onerous financial difficulties that will be increased if current board
policies are continued. For instance, the present board has rigidly maintained the plan set forth with
the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC), which, if followed, will over-extend our resources as well
as destroy any possibility of the persistence of elementary buildings in Grand Rapids, Haskins and
Weston. Furthermore, the board has attempted to fund a portion of Otsego’s OSFC share without seeking
voter approval! Additionally, it seems financially irresponsible to assume more debt when other
government funding sources are both transient and unstable. Other options exist and should be
considered.
Voting for Anderson, Snyder and Tolles will ensure the board’s actions of the future will be tempered by
the will of our citizens.
