College Scene: Powers playing on MSU golf team

Caroline Powers, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the Michigan State women’s golf team.

Powers has finished in the top four for the Spartans in each of their tournaments this fall and compiled
a 73.8 scoring average. She was her team’s top finisher in two of their four tournaments.
Ranked sixth in the nation, the Spartans won the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., and their
own Mary Fossum Invitational.
Kristen Barr, from Bowling Green High School, is a junior on the Kent State volleyball team.
Barr, a defensive specialist/libero, has played in all 24 matches for the Golden Flashes and leads the
team with 346 digs.
Barr was named Mid-American Conference east defensive player of the week for the week ending Saturday.
Against Western Michigan Friday, Barr recorded a career-high 41 digs, the second-most in a match in
school history. It was also the most digs in a single match among MAC players this season.
Alan Bowsher, from Elmwood High School, is a senior on the Ohio Northern men’s cross country team.
Bowsher led the Polar Bears with a second-place finish at the All-Ohio Championships. Bowsher finished
the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:05, leading the Polar Bears to their second All-Ohio team title
in the last three years. Bowsher was named the Ohio Athletic Conference runner of the week for his
efforts.
ONU is ranked No. 31 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
Division III poll.
Brittany Dunn, from Bowling Green High School, is a junior on the Oakland University volleyball team.
In 20 matches played, Dunn leads the team with 379 digs. She earned Summit League defensive player of the
week for the second time this season and ranks second in the league with 4.66 digs per set.
T.J. Fatinikun, from Perrysburg High School, is a freshman on the University of Toledo football team.
Fatinikun, a defensive end, has played in seven games this season. He has eight total tackles, including
a sack and two tackles for loss. Fatinikun has also forced a fumble.
Aaron Mershman, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the Ball State football team.
Mershman is listed as the backup quarterback as original starter Kelly Page was lost for the season due
to an injury.
Logan Riker, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the Quinnipiac University volleyball team.

Riker has played in all 23 matches and leads the team with 319 digs.
Justin Henck, from Otsego High School, is a junior on the Ohio Northern University football team.
Henck, a defensive back, has recorded 13 tackles and four pass break-ups in seven games for the Polar
Bears this season.
Zane Polack, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior on the Gannon College men’s soccer team this
fall.
Polack, a midfielder, has started 16 games for Gannon. He has one goal and one assist on the season.
Jamie Dollar, from Perrysburg High School, is a freshman defender on the Ashland University’s men’s
soccer team.
Dollar has played in nine games, making three starts.
Justin Southwick, from Otsego High School, is a junior on the Ohio Northern University football team.
Southwick is an offensive lineman.
Jacob Smith, from Lakota High School, is a freshman wide receiver on the Ashland University football
team.
Kyle Gunn, from Northwood High School, is a freshman wide receiver on the Ashland University football
team.
Mark Schult, from Eastwood High School, is a freshman linebacker on the Ashland University football team.

Corey Bettenbrock, from Eastwood High School, is a sophomore offensive lineman for the Ohio Northern
University football team.
Casey Adamcik, from Perrysburg High School, is a freshman on the Ohio Northern women’s cross country
team.
Ashton Dennen, from Otsego High School, is a freshman on the Ohio Northern women’s cross country team.
