Toledo tops BG volleyball
TOLEDO – Toledo defeated Bowling Green, 25-23, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22 Saturday in a Mid-American Conference
volleyball match. UT is 14-8 overall and 5-5 in the MAC. BG is 9-16, 2-8.
BG’s leaders were: Kaitlin Jackson, 13 kills, nine digs; Noelle Spitler, 10 kills; Shari Luther, 13
kills; Allison Kearney, 44 assists, 15 digs; Corey Domek, 11 digs; and Alex Zlabis, 24 digs.
Falcon men’s soccer ties
Bowling Green’s men’s soccer team tied Hartwick College on Sunday, 2-2.
Jacob Lawrence scored both of BG’s goals with Hunter Van Houten adding an assist.
Dylan Schoettley made seven saves for the Falcons.
BG is 2-9-3 overall.
BG women’s soccer loses
YPSILANTI, Mich. – Bowling Green’s women’s soccer team lost Sunday to Eastern Michigan, 2-0. The Falcons
are 5-11-3 overall and 1-6-3 in the Mid-American Conference.
Alexa Arsenault and Laura Arnold combined for three saves in goal for BG.
Owens men’s soccer wins
The Owens Community College men’s soccer team defeated Ohio Community College Athletic Conference foe
Cuyahoga, 5-0 on Saturday.
The Express had two goals each from Rodcliff Hall, and Mikhail Weatherly. Michael Hamouda had a goal and
two assists.
Goalies Pavle Udovicic and Dustin Lamon combined for saves in the shut-out.
With the win Owens secured a bid into the NJCAA Region XII Tournament Oct.31-Nov. 1 in Parma.
The Express are 12-6-1 overall and 3-3 in the OCCAC.
Schoeni starts in goal for Crew
COLUMBUS – Kenny Schoeni, the grandson of Ken and Rita Schoeni of Bowling Green, was the starting
goalkeeper for the Columbus Crew Sunday night against New England.
Shoeni made four saves in Columbus’ 1-0 loss.
A native of Cincinnati, Schoeni played college soccer at Vanderbilt and UC-Irvine. It was Schoeni’s first
start in a regular Major League Soccer game. He had played in two reserve games for the Crew.
His father, Roger, is a Bowling Green High School graduate.
