PERRYSBURG — More than an estimated 7,000 homes and businesses lost power Friday evening due to downed
utility poles in the township.
Reggie Strauss, a spokesperson for Toledo Edison Company, said Friday that the number of outages topped
around 7,500. As of about 10:30 p.m., crews had the number down to 1,500.
Strauss estimated that power would be restored by about 11:30 to the remaining homes.
Sgt. Matt Gazarek, of the township police department, said 13 poles fell at about 7:30 p.m. in the area
of Roachton Road near Ohio 199.
He said power was lost in Perrysburg, Rossford, Stony Ridge and the greater part of the township.
Gazarek said the tips of the poles had been sheared off, apparently by a gust of wind.
