Theresa E. Adler

Theresa E. Adler, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away surrounded by her family, Thursday October 22,
2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She
was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 25, 1935 to Mae and Thomas Portanova.
She graduated from Bishop McDonald High school in Brooklyn and worked as a secretary at New York
University. She married Richard Adler on August 28, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Ohio.
Theresa worked as a secretary for most of her life, most recently for Earl Radel CPA and St. Aloysius
Church and School. She was a long-time member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Theresa enjoyed spending
time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She often visited family and friends back east and
liked watching golf, sitting in the sun, reading and shopping.
She will be missed by Richard, her husband of 55 years, along with daughters Karen (Dan) Wickard of
Bowling Green, and Lisa (Kevin) Ackerman of Findlay, Ohio. Grandsons, Matthew Wickard of Bethesda,
Maryland, Drew Wickard of Moscow, Idaho, Adam Ackerman of Findlay, Ohio, and Granddaughter, Abbie
Ackerman of Alameda, California. Also surviving is a sister, Jeanne (John) Carbone, of Manchester, New
Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael Portanova.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, (October 27, 2009) at 11:00 am at the St. Aloysius
Catholic Church. Rev. Thomas Leyland will officiate. Burial will be in Portage Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, (October 26, 2009) from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the
DUNN FUNERAL HOME 408 W. Wooster St. (located in the Historical District of Bowling Green).
