Carol Lynn Huffman, 64, of Grand Rapids, OH, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Hospice of
Northwest Ohio in Toledo, OH.
She was born January 12, 1945 in Toledo, OH to Carlton A. and Margaret C. (Krause) Fink, both of whom
preceded her in death.
She graduated in 1963 from Thomas A. DeVilbiss High School and received an Associate in Commercial
Studies degree from The University of Toledo Community and Technical College in 1966.
On July 2, 1974, she married B. Leslie Huffman, Jr. MD. During their marriage, they traveled widely as
Dr. Huffman fulfilled his responsibilities to various national medical associations and enjoyed their
down time at the Huffman’s long-time residence, Deepwater Farm, in Grand Rapids, OH, where they
participated in community events, such as the Apple Butter Fest, and were active in the Presbyterian
Church. Dr. Huffman passed away in 2001.
Until her retirement in 1991 from Fallen Timbers Family Physicians, she worked in doctors’ offices at the
Trail and Fallen Timbers Medical Centers. Subsequently, she volunteered in the Medical Staff Office at
St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, OH.
Carol loved the beach, cooking, dogs, and, most especially, spending time with her grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and the many friends from every stage of her life – grade school to work, church,
and the community.
She was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, OH.
She is survived by three stepchildren, B. Leslie (Ruth) Huffman III of Swanton, OH, Debra Lynn Huffman of
Indianapolis, IN, and James Walter (Christine) Huffman of Hampton, VA; five grandchildren, Scarlet
(Daniel) D’Amore of Bowling Green, OH; B. Leslie (Holly) Huffman IV of Oceanside, CA; Ruthann (David)
McFarlane of Wendell, NC; Jamie (Jeremiah) O’Brien of Toledo, OH; and Alexa Huffman of Hampton, VA; and
five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emilia, and Sophia D’Amore of Bowling Green, OH and Ailanna and Jonah
Huffman of Oceanside, CA.
One grandson, Kyle Huffman, preceded her in death.
Friends and family may visit at Wright-Hobbs Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, OH on Friday, October 23, 2009
from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Haskins, OH on Saturday,
October 24, 2009 at 10 a.m. led by Pastor Chad Huebner. Entombment will follow at the Highland Memory
Gardens in Waterville, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation B.
Leslie Huffman, Jr. MD Scholarship Fund or the Otsego Food Pantry.
