Webster 1942 grads reunite
PERRYSBURG – The 1942 graduating class of Webster High School, now part of Eastwood, met for a luncheon
at Cafe Marie for their 67-year reunion on Sept. 23. Clark Duncan gave the blessing.
Five of the original 17 classmates remain: Grace (Hebler) Coy, Duncan, Dale Gross, Florence (Swartz)
Peoples and Bonnie (Newman) Whitcomb. Peoples resides in a nursing home near Columbus. Also attending
were spouses Marcella Duncan, Jean Gross and Russell Whitcomb as well as Betty Meder, widow of Joseph;
plus guests Karen Kristen and Andrew Shilling.
After the meal the group viewed photos and reminisced. It wa decided to meet again at the same location
and time next year.
Pemberville Class of ’52 meets
PEMBERVILLE – The Pemberville High School Class of 1952 met Sept. 19 at the Pemberville American Legion
Hall, with 13 classmates and 11 guests attending.
The theme was the celebration of their 75th birthdays.
The Riverview Banquet Centre served the meal and the "Hot Flashes" sang music from the 1950s
and ’60s. Each classmate went home with an individual birthday cake and balloon.
Of the 24 graduates, two are deceased: Glen Oberhouse and Kenneth Reitzel.
Attending from out of state were Joe Crago, Allentown, Pa., and Mary Lou (Wiegman) Bartels, Franklin,
Tenn. From Ohio were Donald Beaverson, Marilyn (Beck) Lange, Jack Eisenhour, James Hobart, Donna
(Hurrelbrink) Alexander, Clayton Jividen, Marilyn (Kern) Witker, Dick Kohring, Jean (Miller) Helm,
Rosemary (Nusser) Driftmyer and Bill Sheets.
The next reunion will be in 2012.
Briar Hill fish fry supports Alzheimer’s Memory Walk
NORTH BALTIMORE – Briar Hill Health Campus hosted a Community Fish Fry on Sept 24, featuring
entertainment and free food.
On the menu was fresh Lake Erie perch, fries, coleslaw, and dessert prepared on campus by staff. Over 275
meals were served from 1 to 3 p.m.; carry-out meals were also provided to several community members.
They also displayed artwork created by all of their residents through the week.
Briar Hill was also taking donations for the local Alzheimer’s Association, with $325 collected to help
support the upcoming Memory Walk.
