PERRYSBURG – Two burglars were confronted by people in the homes they were trying to rob this week.
Lt. Dan Weaver, Perrysburg Police Division public information officer, said a male wearing a T-shirt and
Jeans was seen at about 4:30 Thursday morning by a guest in a 4000 block Lawrence Drive residence.
According to police, the subject had entered the second-story apartment through an unlocked sliding
glass door.
Upon discovery, Weaver said, the subject exited through the sliding door and jumped off the balcony
before fleeing on foot.
The Lake Township K-9 unit was brought to the scene to assist but lost the trail somewhere in the
neighborhood.
The subject was not recognized by the man who discovered him. A female resident also was in the apartment
at the time of the incident.
Weaver said no one was threatened or harmed, and no items were stolen.
It is unknown at this time if the incident is related to another aggravated burglary that occurred at
about 7 a.m. on Wednesday in the 4000 block of Moser Lane.
According to the report, a resident of the apartment was awakened to noises coming from the entry door of
his ground-floor apartment. Observed through the peephole was a thin male wearing a baseball cap and a
jacket. He was using a metal object about 19-24 inches in length to pry open the door.
The suspect fled when the resident yelled through the door.
Both investigations are ongoing.
