Eastwood’s first grads hold 50-year reunion

The first graduating class of Eastwood High School held its 50-year class reunion Aug. 7-8.
In the 1958-1959 school year 83 students were put together forming Eastwood’s Class of 1959. They came
from Luckey, Pemberville and Webster. On Aug. 7 the group went to Snook’s Dream Car Museum and then to a
private property for a hot dog roast and social gathering.
On Aug. 8 classmates took a two-hour Sandpiper cruise down the Maumee River. That evening, 70 people
gathered for a dinner-dance at the Riverview Banquet Hall in Pemberville. Classmates came from 10
different states.
Attending from outside Ohio were Joyce Stickel Ford-Brinker, Larry Hayward and Bob Eilert, all of Texas;
Judy Jacobs, California; Roger Berning and Jan Heise, Florida; Lois Smearsoll Gilmore, Shirley Cross
Poggemeyer and Bev Grover Hill, Michigan; Sandra Dusing, Maryland; Glen Ruswinkle, Georgia; Margaret
McAnally McGee, Mississippi; Roger Hagemeyer, Arizona; and James Kahlenberg, North Carolina.
The planning committee for the reunion was Nedra Sheets, Joy Garling Abke, Marjorie Ridenour Lang and
chairperson Judy Hummel Haas.
Other Ohio residents in attendance were Jane Clink Garling, Mike Lang, Rose Hoodlebrink Corns, Howard
Brunk, Ellen Jean Haas Sharp, Jackie Niedermeier Green, Judy Musson Snyder, Judy Frobose Hill, Carol
Rife Ehrat, Dennis Welling, Kathy Kirk Wyss, Sandy Hansen DeVerna, Dale Duquette, Phyliss Brinker
Duquette, Pat Burkhart Sanders, John Keiser, Rose Murdock Jones, Bob Campbell, Frank Migliori, Jenne
Meyers Foutz, Paul Gephart, Nell Faykosh Long, Tom Schultz, Carter Clay, Richard Walston and Larry
Smith.
Of the original 83 classmates, seven are deceased. They are Jerry Bassett, Jerry Baker, James Carson,
Ronald Witker, Glen Stein, James Lahe and Frances Frazier Wright.
