Richard Keith Meek, age 81, of Riverview, Fla., and formerly of Wayne, died Friday (Aug. 14, 2009) at
Life Path Hospice House of Sun City, Fla., after a long battle with cancer.
He was born July 28, 1928 in Toledo, to Myron M. and Nellie I. (Stannard) Meek. Both are deceased.
He married Virginia Lindemeyer on Aug. 20, 1949 in Bowling Green, his beloved wife of 60 years, who
survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Douglas (Kathy) Meek, Riverview, Fla.; Dennis (Linda) Meek of Bloomdale;
Duane (Yolia) Meek of Lakeland, Fla.; a daughter, Debra (Ron) Thaxton, Riverview, Fla.; a brother, James
Meek of Mansfield; a sister, Helen Ione Ward, Bowling Green; 12 grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Darrell (Robin) Meek; and a brother, Donald Meek.
Mr. Meek was a retired building contractor in Wayne before moving to Riverview in 1975.
He was a member of Wayne Lions Club and Wayne Church of Christ.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Barndt Funeral Home,
Wayne. John Amstutz, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Bradner Cemetery, Bradner.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice House of Sun City Florida, 3723 Supper Creek Drive, Ruskin,
Fla. 33573.
