Shimel misses cut at USGA Amateur
BEDMINSTER, N.J. – Eastwood High School senior Alyssa Shimel fired a 6-over 78 at the second round of the
United States Golf Association Girls’ Junior Championships at Trump National Golf Course Tuesday.
Shimel just missed advancing to the match-play round, finishing in a tie for 68th. The top 64 golfers
from the first two rounds of stroke play advanced to match play.
Shimel shot an 80 in the first round for a 36-hole total of 158 (14-over). Amy Anderson, from Oxbow,
N.D., took medalist honors with a 2-round score of 141 (3-under).
BGHS golf meeting changed
The meeting for anyone interested in playing golf at Bowling Green High School has been changed from
Thursday to July 29,
The meeting will last one hour starting at 10 a.m. at the Stone Ridge Golf Club driving range.

Links Lassies
The Links Lassies had a medal play event at Forrest Creason Golf Course Tuesday.
The flight winners were: A, Eileen Smith and Sue Joseph, low gross Joseph, low net; B, Mary Ann Hillier
and Carol Jones, low gross and Jones, low net; C, Shirley Kausch, low gross and low net; and Kausch, low
putts.
Golferettes
The Bowling Green Country Club Golferettes held a scramble tournament on Tuesday.
Lynne Helm, Pat Pope, Pat Stavish, and Terri Householder were the winners. Joyce Stearns, Sis Oman,
Alicia Preslan, and Marty McKenzie were second.
Reimold goes hitless
NEW YORK – Nolan Reimold, from Bowling Green State University, was 0-for-4 for Baltimore in a 6-4 loss to
the New York Yankees Tuesday. Reimold is hitting .259 for the Orioles.
Pemberville swim team defeats Toledo YMCA
PEMBERVILLE – The Pemberville Community Pool Swim Team defeated the Toledo YMCA, 374-282.
