RISINGSUN – Florence M. Smith, 97, of Risingsun, Ohio, died Tuesday morning, July 14, 2009 at Good
Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria, Ohio.
Mrs. Smith retired as owner/operator of Florence’s Beauty Shop in Risingsun that she started in 1951.
She was a member of Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bradner.
She also served on Risingsun Election Board for more than 20 years.
She was a 1931 graduate of Risingsun High School.
She was born Sept. 9, 1911 in Fremont, to Oscar and Iva (Hummel) Iler. She married Cleo Vern Smith on
Dec. 23, 1933 in Port Huron, Mich. He passed away on Oct. 24, 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeane E. (Wesley) Welty, Westerville, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Kent Kline,
Kimberly Welty, Kristi (Welty) Marshall and Kyle Welty; four great-grandchildren, Jessica (Kline)
Frankart, Angela Kline, Tonia Kline and Grace Welty; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Lewk Varnish and Cole
Frankart; and three great-great0grandchildren, Madisen, Izabella and Kellen.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, husband and stepfather, Eldon "Dutch"
Rosenberger.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2009 at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne, Ohio.
Officiating will be Rev. Susan St. Peter. Burial will be in Bradner Cemetery, Bradner, Ohio.
Visitation is Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne, Ohio.
