To the Editor: GOBA committee members praised

0

GOBA came to town with approximately 2,700 bicycle enthusiasts. GOBA’s visit to our town was a result of
the efforts and complete cooperation of the Bowling Green Conventions and Visitors Bureau (CVB). A
committee worked for over 6 months planning for the GOBA visit. Many individuals and groups worked
closely together to make the visit a success. On behalf of the CVB I want to publicly acknowledge the
hard work and help of the following:
¥ Planning Committee Members -Tom Baer, Tom Vanden Eyden, Beth Volmer, Eric Larson, Earlene Kilpatrick
and Michelle Grigore
¥ Wood County Fair Board – Donald Bechstein, Joanne Spoerl, Rod Lucas and Joe
¥ Bowling Green Board Of Education – Hugh Caurmartin, Dan Davis and the bus drivers
¥ Emergency Services – Wood County Sheriff, Wood County EMA Brad Gilbert, Kent Applehans and staff
¥ Boy Scout Troop 358 leadership -Fred Riggs/Brad Conner and the Scouts
¥ Van Buren FFA Adviser Jessica Nagel and the youth
¥ Colorful Clovers 4-H adviser Steve Arnold and the youth
¥ Bowling Green city government administration, police, fire and public works
¥ BGSU Recreation Center staff.
A special thanks to the many unnamed volunteers that staffed the information booth and campgrounds areas.
Thanks ever so much to the David Miller and Beth Genson for their invaluable assistance in event
promotion and news coverage. Lastly, thanks to Wendy Stram and Melinda Kale for their dedicated service
to the CVB and this community. As can be readily, seen it takes an entire community working together in
common purpose to successfully host large scale visitor groups/events. In the weeks to come the
community will witness even greater achievements of the CVB. The Family and Motor Coach Association
event coming to enjoy our wonderful community and in the process help area businesses prosper.
