Information table at library in BG
to focus on ‘Sandwich Generation’
On Saturday, an information table will be displayed in front of the Wood County District Public Library
to commemorate and celebrate the dedication, patience and caring of adults who are part of the Sandwich
Generation.
It is part of Sandwich Generation Month, with its goal of raising awareness of the resources available to
those who are "sandwiched" between the needs of their growing family and aging parents.
One of every eight Americans aged 40 to 60 is both raising a child and caring for a parent, according to
the Pew Research Center. Between 7 to 10 million adults are caring for their aging parents from a long
distance, the center reported.
For more information visit www.SandwichGenerationMonth.com or call the Bowling Green-Toledo office of
Griswold Special Care, (419) 354-4500.
Programs set on memory lapses
The Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is offering caregivers programs on memory
lapses. The programs will explore "memory lapses" with examples of changes that are a normal
part of the aging process and changes that are not. Factors that can affect memory, treatable causes of
memory loss and techniques to maintain and improve memory will also be discussed.
One program will be Wednesday from 10 to 111 a.m. in the Waterville Public Library, 800 Michigan Ave.
Another will be July 27 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Sylvania branch of the Toledo/Lucas County Public
Library at 6749 Monroe St.
