Walbolt pleads guilty in death of 2 Grand Rapids teenagers

(Updated at 9:55 p.m. 7-7) According to the Lucas County Prosecutor’s office, Glenn Walbolt, 56, of
Wapakoneta Road, Grand Rapids, was judged guilty Monday morning to two counts of aggravated vehicular
homicide involving the Feb. 12 crash which killed two Otsego High School students.
Walbolt changed his earlier not guilty plea to no contest in the courtroom of Lucas County Common Pleas
Court Judge Denise Ann Dartt, in Toledo.
The crash, which occurred near the intersection of Ohio 578 and U.S. 24 near Grand Rapids, killed Jacob
Polen, 17, and David Todd, 18. Polen was a sophomore at Otsego High School; Todd attended Penta Career
Center and Otsego was his home school. Both teens along with Walbolt resided at Grand Rapids Village
Estates mobile home park on Wapakoneta Road, about a mile from the crash site.
Authorities allege Walbolt was drunk at the time of the fatal crash. Both teens were passengers in his
car.
