Camp helps kids deal with death of a friend

Eight children from throughout Wood County spent three days this week at a bereavement camp.
It was the third annual bereavement camp for kids hosted by Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
The camp is for children who have lost a close friend or family member, to give them coping skills to
deal with the death, according to Susan Westphal, of the hospice organization.
This year’s camp gave the children a chance to work with a therapy dog and an art therapist.
At the end of the event, a memorial was held, with children writing letters to their loved ones, tying
them to balloons, then releasing them into the air.
