Three BG women golfers honored
Hannah Lambert, Lauren Glew and Megan Gormley, members of the Bowling Green State University women’s golf
team, were named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. All three Falcons
carry a minimum of a 3.57 grade-point average.
Lambert, an architectural/environmental design major, maintains a 3.67 GPA after finishing her junior
season. This past year Lambert averaged 87.07.
Glew, a second-year winner of this award, currently majors in finance, while maintaining a 3.74 GPA. Glew
finished second on the team with an 82.86 average.
Gormley averaged a team-best 81.79 this past season. Gormley maintains a 3.57 GPA, while majoring in
sport management.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of
college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at
least 50 percent (Division I) of their team’s matches.
Badenhop has scoreless outing
MIAMI – Burke Badenhop, from Perrysburg High School and Bowling Green State University, pitched 22â„3
scoreless innings in relief for the Florida Marlins in a 5-3 win over Washington Wednesday. He allowed
one hit and struck out two, throwing 40 pitches.
Badenhop has now appeared in 20 games for the Marlins this season and in 44 innings has a 3.48 earned run
average with 29 strike outs, 14 walks and 45 hits allowed.
Reimold goes hitless
BALTIMORE – Nolan Reimold, from Bowling Green State University, was 0-for-4 for Baltimore in the Orioles’
6-5 loss to Boston in 11 innings Wednesday.
He is now hitting .288 for Baltimore in 43 games.
Eastwood soccer camp set
LUCKEY – Eastwood High School is holding a soccer camp for boys and girls kindergarten through eighth
grade. The camp is July 6-10 at the high school soccer field.
The cost is $50 and includes a T-shirt. Participants can register the first day of camp or by calling
(419) 340-6710.
Registration forms and payment must be completed before any child can participate.
Elmwood boosters to meet
JERRY CITY – The Elmwood Athletic Boosters are meeting Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the high school media
center.
Links Lassies
The Links Lassies held a 9-hole tournament at the Forrest Creason Golf Course this week.
Doris Christensen and Kay Marten tied for low net. The weekly winners were: Kay Soltesz, A; Joan
McCormick, B; and Sally Amos, C; and Dorothy Beauprez, low putts.
Golferettes
The Bowling Green Country Club Golferettes competed on Tuesday with Sara McDermott winning the tournament
of the day.
Flight winners were: A, Joyce Stearns, low net and low putts; B, Sherry Haskins, low gross and low net
and Tyne Hyslop, low putts; C, McDermott, low gross, low net and low putts; and D, Mary Fortney and Beth
Rutter tied for low gross, and Fortney, low putts.
Pistons youth camp set
Owens Community College will offer area basketball players the opportunity to learn about the
fundamentals of the sport as part of the Detroit Pistons 2009 Youth Basketball Training Camp Tour July
31 – Aug. 1.
The youth basketball training camp runs from 8:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. in the Student Health and Activities
Center on the Toledo-area campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township.
Youth in grades 1-11 will receive instruction on various basketball skills, highlighted by ball handling,
passing, shooting, defense and rebounding. Additionally, participants will be evaluated on their skill
level and compete in games and a variety of contests.
The registration fee for the camp is $99 per participant and space is limited. In addition, each
individual will receive a Detroit Pistons navy blue reversible training camp jersey and a basketball.

Open fields for BGHS girls soccer
Open fields being held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9-10:30 a.m. for any Bowling Green high
school girl, freshmen through senior, interested in playing soccer this fall.
The open fields are at the BGHS field.
