Shimel qualifies for USGA Nationals
UNIONTOWN – Eastwood High School’s Alyssa Shimel has qualified for the United States Golf Association
Girls National Championship after finishing tied for third at a USGA qualifier held at Ohio Prestwick
Country Club on June 24.
Shimel shot a 73 to tie with Kendall Allen for third. Brittany Marchand took first with a 69 and Rebecca
Lee-Bentham was second at 71. All four players will participate in the USGA Girls National Championship
July 20-25 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
Shimel will be a senior at Eastwood in the fall.
Reimold has three hits
BALTIMORE – Nolan Reimold, a former Bowling Green Falcon, was 3-for-5 with two runs scored as Baltimore
rallied for an 11-10 win over Boston Tuesday. In 42 games for the Orioles he’s hitting .296.
All night softball tourney set
The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the 2009 All Night Softball Tournament at
Carter Park, July 17-18. The tournament is for USSSA Class D, E and coed teams.
The fee is $170 for USSSA sanctioned teams and $200 for non-sanctioned teams for at least three games of
pool play and a double-elimination tournament. The deadline to register is July 15 at 6 p.m. and the
tourney draw is at 7 that night. The tournament includes a home run derby, live entertainment from The
Sanderlings, grilled food and concessions.

Physicals planned
PERRYSBURG – The physicians at NorthWest Ohio Primary Care Physicians in Perrysburg are providing
Pre-Participation Physical Examinations and for all area middle school and high school athletes on July
21 from 1-7 p.m.
The cost is $25 cash, check (payable to the physician) or credit.
