Saturday landfill hours to change
Beginning Aug. 1, the Wood County Landfill will change its hours of operation on Saturdays to 8 a.m. to
noon. Monday through Friday hours will remain 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The county commissioners, upon recommendation from Ken Rieman, Solid Waste Management District director,
approved the change in hours as a cost-saving measure. Overall tonnage at the landfill is down 20
percent from the previous year.
Many to observe holiday Friday
Most federal, state, county and city offices will observe the Independence Day holiday on Friday.
Among operations closed will be Bowling Green Municipal Court.
There will be mail delivery Friday, but none on Saturday.
Weston Legion serves steak dinner
WESTON – Weston American Legion Post 409 will hold a grilled New York strip steak dinner on Friday.
Serving starts at 5 p.m.
The meal will include a baked potato, vegetable and salad at a cost of $8.
The legion is located at 12722 Potter Road, south of Sand Ridge Road.
Pemberville Cemetery meetings changed
PEMBERVILLE – The Pemberville Union Cemetery Trustees have changed their meeting to the second Monday of
the month.
The next meetings will be July 13 and Aug. 10 at 6:45 p.m. in the Freedom Township Building.
‘Rockstar" week
at BGSU camp
"So You Want to be a Rockstar" is the theme for Bowling Green State University Summer Camp,
July 6-10.
Campers will tour Eppler gymnastics, BGSU Library and the Humane Society. Campers will be introduced to
yoga through a special class for youth. There will be swimming, skating, rock climbing and scavenger
hunts.

CJFD golf scramble benefits heart assoc.
PORTAGE – Central Joint Fire District will hold its second annual golf scramble July 11 at Birch Run Golf
Club.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the fee is $200 per four-person team.
Proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association and the district’s scholarship fund.
The fee covers 18 holes of golf, a cart and lunch.
