Powers loses in match play
DEVENS, Mass. ­- Bowling Green resident Caroline Powers lost in the first round of match play at the
United States Women’s Public Links Championship at Red Tail Golf Club.
Tiffany Lua of Rowland Heights, Calif. was a 3 and 1 winner over Powers.
Powers lost the first two holes, but won the next two holes to tie the match. The match was even through
seven, but Lua won the next three holes to go ahead for good.
Powers also advanced to the match-play portion of the event last year. She is a recent graduate of BGHS
and will play golf at Michigan State in the fall.
Lua, who will play at UCLA in the fall, advanced to the semifinals of the tournament last year. She also
tied for 13th in last year’s U.S. Amateur and has played in the last two U.S, Opens, making the cut last
year.
BGSU announces kickoff times
The kickoff times for Bowling Green State University’s home football games have been set.
The Falcons open the 2009 season against Troy Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. Other home kickoff times include, versus
Boise State, Sept. 26, (7 p.m.); Ohio, Oct. 3, (4 p.m.); Central Michigan, Oct. 24, (noon); Akron, Nov.
20, 5:30 p.m. (5:30 p.m.); and Toledo, Nov. 27, (12:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.) The Toledo kickoff time will
be dictated by ESPNU.
The MAC also announced that BG’s Oct. 10 game at Kent State will begin at 3:30 p.m.
The Falcons currently will have four nationally televised games for 2009. BGSU will host Central Michigan
on ESPN Plus, will play at Buffalo on ESPN2 and will appear on ESPNU when they host Akron and Toledo.

Reimold 0-for-1 in pinch-hit appearance
MIAMI – Former BGSU standout Nolan Reimold grounded out in his only plate appearance Wednesday for the
Baltimore Orioles, as he pinch hit in Baltimore’s 5-2 loss to Florida.Reimold is batting .277 for the
season.
Car wash to benefit BGHS hockey
A car wash to benefit the Bowling Green High School hockey team is set for Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the
Super Wash on East Poe Road.
The car wash is free, but donations will be accepted.
Eastwood Wrestling Club to host fundraiser
PEMBERVILLE – The Eastwood Eagle Wrestling Club is having a Celebrity Waiter Night hosted by Cherry’s Pub
and Grill in Pemberville on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m.
Eastwood’s wrestling coaches will be serving dinner to help raise funds for the new wrestling facility.

Owens to host Mitchell-Jackson basketball camp
Area youth will have the opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of basketball and life lessons as
basketball stars Todd Mitchell and Jim Jackson host their annual basketball camp at Owens Community
College July 27-30.
The four-day youth basketball camp runs from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in Owens’ Student Health and Activities
Center.
Camp instructors for the four-day event will include college and professional basketball standouts
Mitchell and Jackson, as well as area high school coaches and current and former collegiate basketball
players. The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 5-12.
The cost is $75 per participant and space is limited. Lunch is provided daily and each attendee will

Joseph Memorial Golf Outing set
BLUFFTON – The Bradley W. Joseph Memorial Fund Golf Outing will be held July 18 at Bluffton Golf Club.

All proceeds of the event will support scholarships for pharmacy students to go on a United Methodist
medical mission abroad.
The event will feature a shot gun start at 9 a.m. and includes a four-person scramble with 18 holes of
golf with cart. Activities include an award dinner and ceremony, goody bags and team prizes.
